Call for Directors for the 2025-2026 Season
The Vienna Theatre Company (VTC) performs and rehearses at 120 Cherry St, Vienna VA 22180.
We are an all-volunteer community theatre. This is an unpaid position.
VTC works with the Vienna Parks and Recreation Department who provides us our space and opportunity to create and perform shows.

Seasonal Production Time Slots
Each season VTC produces three shows. Each of these shows runs for three consecutive weekends for a total of eight performances. This includes two Sunday matinees.
The time slots are as follows:
Fall: Auditions in August; with production dates late October, early November
Winter: Auditions in November; with production dates late January, early February
Spring: Auditions in February; with production dates late April, early May.
Application Requirements
VTC is accepting applications for Directors for the 2025-2026 Season. If you are interested in directing please submit the following information before December 1st 2024. If you wish to submit for more than one play, please make separate submissions.
1) A letter (in PDF format) stating:
Submit this information to [email protected] no later than December 1st 2024. We will acknowledge receipt of your application. Our director selection committee will consider all applications and we may ask further questions. The finalists will be schedule for a face to face meeting in January/February with final decisions made no later than March 15th 2025.
Other considerations
VTC works with the Department of Parks and Recreation Department and we must follow their rules of operation when using their space. The VTC board will assign a liaison to work with you, and or your producer to make sure this relationship has the needed communication and cooperation.
VTC will provide a budget for your producer to work with. This will cover set materials, props, and costumes.
Directors are expected to assemble their own team, including Producer, Stage Manager, Asst Stage Manager, Lighting, Sound, Set building, Props, Costumes, Set dresser etc. VTC has a Board of Directors and can assist in recruiting any vacancies you might have. In general, this crew needs to be assembled in advance of auditions. Your contacts and abilities in this regard are a factor in our director selection process.
Casting:
Casting decisions should be made within 1 week of first audition date
– Actors are told this at audition
– Those not making call backs should be contacted within 48hrs of audition date
– All actors contacted with results and a thank you
– Submit names, emails, and positions to VTC board liaison
Set:
You will have the ability to construct and rehearse on your set for weeks before opening. The stage set will not need to be taken down in between show production dates. You and your production team are responsible to build and strike your set. Generally we ask actors to assist in construction and require them to assist in strike at the final Sunday performance.
You must organize light and sound board operators for each show.
VTC will provide all the promotion support for the show. This includes Head shots, advertising, signage, Facebook posts, email blasts and business cards.
VTC has a stock of set pieces, building materials, props, and costumes you will have access to.
VTC will provide personnel to house manage all of the productions.

- Which time slot(s) work for you.
- Your overall vision and reason you wish to direct this show
- Why you feel suited to direct the show.
